My anticipation with Missoni is always in seeing how the traditional Missoni patterns and knits translate to new ideas, new seasons. For fall 2011 menswear that meant texture; and lots of it.
Worldly and with a sense of nature, Missoni’s showing at Milan fashion week spanned a colour palette from earthy browns and clays, to slate greys and cool blues. As well as the strong emphasis on texture, there’s a particular fascination with layering. And, as Missoni shows, layering for men doesn’t have to lean to the untidy, grungy side – gents wanting to create a cosy, textured look of layers that’s still cooly sophisticated, look no further than Missoni for inspiration.
