On a day that saw the swimwear collections take to the runway of Australian fashion week (RAFW), by way of her label Talulah designer Kelli Wharton debuted a collection of not so much by the beach wear, but near the beach wear. The sort of pieces perfect for a day of basking in the sun or a night of wine, candles and dancing by the pool. The sort of candles that illuminated the catwalk and welcomed the front row to their seats.
It was also a collection that was free spirited. Not the free spirited attitude with a hippy sensibility that is too often used as the base of spring collections, but the free spirited lean that you get from youth alone. So it was that Talulah brought a young take to the season, one that took in everything from hot pants arched heavily at the rear to the opposite extreme of wide leg ones. Our personal picks from the collection are its use of ever-green off the shoulder tops and a particular white baby-doll as outerwear.
