Raw-edged and in loose, draping layers, Alistair Trung’s spring offerings were a highlight of last night’s MSFW (Melbourne fashion week) runway. From an opener of brilliant blue trough to the teal closing piece, the colour palette was vibrant and strong; and it was the block coloured pieces over the printed ones that had the most impact.
Trung’s dresses don’t just drape. They fall as if only partly hanging on, giving the effect of fabric that’s unravelling from around the body. Where some such loose drapes of fabric may come off as shapeless, Trung’s have an unfussy hint of sex appeal.
Also look out for a unique take on the season’s sunray pleats: a blue asymmetrical number casually layered over a white tank.
