For High Summer 2012 White Sands looked to film noir. It’s a subtle influence; one that may not spring to mind when you gaze upon the ballerina-inspired floral maillots and pastel vintage inspired bikinis. But once acquainted with the collection’s concept it suddenly makes more sense. Titled Pirouette, the collection explores the two female archetypes in film noir; “the trustworthy and loving woman and the dark and seductive femme fatale.” So while the soft, floral pieces clearly dress the former, it’s animal print bikinis and sheer ruched one pieces that give life to the latter.
White Sands showed their High Summer 2012 collection on the runway last week at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2011 in Miami.
