Everything about Agua de Coco’s spring 2014 show at Sao Paulo fashion week (SPFW) was drawing you in and taking you across to some exotic island. It opened with palm-leaf motifs in vibrant green, before moving on to every type of tropical imagery you could think of: digital print bikinis covered in bananas, passion fruits and the yellow bell of the cashew tree; exotic birds and woven raffia printed on with a 3-D trompe l’oeil effect.
Matched by sweeping slit dresses and oversized tropical earrings that turn swimwear into evening attire, there was little on the Agua de Coco runway that wasn’t the stuff of a beautiful, balmy, tropical dream.
