It was 18th Century France meets modern day at Aigner’s spring / summer 2013 collection, where designer Christian Beck found inspiration in the unusual combination of the Baroque era and contemporary street art.
While the Marie Antoinette reference wasn’t overtly obvious, it was signalling a collection filled with richness, extravagance, and frivolity – though it was never over the top. The accessories were very much key, models often carrying more than one bag at once or wearing brilliant gold jewellery that transformed even the most minimal of silk dresses into something courtly. Embellished metallic leather belts and bags were particularly striking.
Aigner finished with a set of full length gowns that mixed glamour and sophistication into highly wearable evening pieces.
