In this spring / summer 2013 collection we are transported back to the 1980s and even 1990s. Alexandre Herchovitch is a Brazilian designer who has shown all over the world. He is known for making the complex simple and the simple into something glamorous. This collection is amazingly true to his own aesthetic.
These 1980s prints and baggy dresses take us back to the days of legwarmers, charm necklaces and crazy color combinations. In the States it reminds us of the popular ’90s Will Smith show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air – these designs wouldn’t be amiss in the show. The prints were plaids galore, and the color scheme was reminiscent of the club kid scene. The mix and match of higher fabrics with simple ones makes us think of the cool kids who make their own clothing.
A mix of bright color combinations from this collection would stand out in these colorful New York City streets. The checkered looks that a more sophisticated woman could wear paired with the whimsical styling of each look made for a great new perspective. It is not always advisable to mix prints and to top it off mix match colors, but Alexandre puts them together with perfection.
