The classic French warble of Edith Piaf, a clash of thunder and Alice McCall‘s RAFW (Australian fashion week) show opened. Floaty dresses and silk jumpsuits had cuts that tease and flirt with danger (some Hollywood tape recommended for the modest) before playful prints were introduced.
The crimped hair interspersed with plaits, paired with splashes of bright blue and pink makeup along the cheekbones, turned the models into living Malibu barbies – only more modern and sexy. Perfect for the look were some sleek, sporty white mesh pieces with silver utility buckles.
McCall’s forte is the pretty-yet-effortless chic she established long ago; and this week’s show proved she’s still on top of her game.
