No one does eclectic cohesiveness quite like Anna Sui. For as much as the designer enjoys taking her extended sources of inspiration and effortlessly building them into a mix alongside a game of colors, textures and patterns, none of them dull or lacking excitement, the resulting collections couldn’t possibly come across as more lively and well-thought out. For fall / winter 2013 Sui evoked the optimism and playfulness of the 60s mod sending the models out on the runway wearing bright colored tights, jumper dresses, collared shirts and faux fur jackets.
The graphic element of the collection was mostly reflected in the patterned sweaters and a-line silhouettes, styled with complementary knee socks and alluring cat eyes. Exuberant and never too serious, Sui’s modern view over the French New Wave translated into a series of feminine, youthful looks that if nothing else, managed to brighten the gloomy February atmosphere. Destined for fall and winter but bursting of spring and summer enchantment, this collection will find its matches in more than just the fun and whimsical crowd represented by the Parisian girls.
