I must confess to having a soft spot for Anne Sofie Madsen. Though her Copenhagen fashion week (CFW) shows never seem to deviate too much from those that have gone before, that’s less a matter of repetition and more like she’s built up such an impressive futuristic universe that it would be a shame to move outside it. And so, each of her collections seem to exist in that same world, evolutions of the one epic story.
For fall / winter 2013 Madsen brings back those ghastly yet beautiful visions of monster-like faces, one looking yeti-ish in baby blue-grey fur, another formed by applique that then draws the eyes down into multi-toned fringing. Adding a new layer of intrigue are Madsen’s 3-dimensional details – this time intricately constructed in origami folds like a feat of futurist architecture.
