Anne Valerie Hash opened with a mermaid’s shimmer. Pearlescent pastels created that effect of aquatic femininity; loose ponytails with a touch of gel in front added a freshness and innocence. Pants and jumpsuits were pleated and draped from nude and peppermint silk in intricate ways, high sheen fabrics changed colour depending on where the light hit, and bustiers had shimmery print cups, looking – from the distance – like the shell cups Disney popularized on Ariel.
Everything about Anne Valerie Hash’s Paris fashion week (PFW) woman was magical; a modern fairytale. But while a couture collection is often complete fantasy, Anne Valerie Hash’s ready to wear spring / summer 2013 collection brought just enough of that fantasy to the models to make the looks feel attainable and yet just a little removed from reality. Like a seed of magic in everyday life.
