A Vaccarello collection without sex appeal would be like Paris without the Eiffel Tower: it could exist, but it would be missing a part of its soul. In past seasons the raw sexuality found life in slits and cutaways that strategically hid and revealed the body according to Vaccarello’s agenda; for fall / winter 2013, he found new ways of bringing out the best of every model’s body.
If you had to pinpoint it down to two things, you could easily go with these: asymmetry, and the metallic chain mail. The former was used to reveal extra skin be it in missing sleeves or slanting hemlines. The latter was a fierce and inventive way of creating something see-through while keeping it unapologetically modern and tough.
There’s no denying that what Anthony Vaccarello presented at Paris fashion week was an evolution of his signature aesthetic, one that moves forward without moving too far away from his quickly-established DNA. Between the tough details and wearable black and white colour palette, fans of the brand will not be disappointed.
