We all felt a little wind swept when Ashish’s autumn / winter 2013 collection flew down the London fashion week (LFW) runway; the models sported high-volume, backcombed hair, which gave a sense of extensive manual labour. The show notes prepped us on the inspiration behind next fall’s range. “From penthouse to pavement…” “No more cocktails and canapés but builder’s tea and bacon doorstoppers.” Does this mean that women are going to be seen drilling manholes into the street? If they are then here’s the place they’re getting their high visibility uniform.
Builders striped tabards in neon yellow and orange teamed with grey, military jumpsuits were just a few of the looks you could go for when thinking about mixing cement. It’s always the way with Ashish that his signature sequinned, embellished pieces make an appearance down the catwalk, which however, is the biggest understatement of the century. Multi-tonal sequined aprons and onsie’s made construction look fun; our personal favourite was the sequined tshirt with caption “I’m having a shit day thanks.”
Wrapping up warm just got better with Ashish’s sequined and fringed blankets pinned at the shoulder. His slouchy, sport-max pieces give a sense of frolicking between bricks and mortar; however, where we won’t be rushing to build a skyscraper, we will be sporting his sequin-manic collection next season!
