Aslanis is probably the best known designer in Greece and last night he celebrated 40 years with a unique Athens fashion week (AXDW) show. If there was a definition for a resort collection then it would have the name of Aslanis. The collection was as if it had been one woman of the West on holidays in Brazil. The influence from the East was strong as well the influence from Latin America. The collection of Aslanis had everything to show, from floral pieces combined with fringes, airy fabrics, studs, traditional details, ruffles, dyed clothes. Some pieces also reminded us of the elegance of Audrey Hepburn.
Regarding floral, Aslanis gave another definition to this trend. There were honeycomb floral details, but there were also artificial flowers stuck on to many clothes and accessories. Models were wearing either hats or scarves worn as headbands. At the end of the show we saw bridal and groom outfits. The Brides of Aslanis had a sadness in their walking and holding, strictly, flowers close to the chest. The music started though with all foreign hits of the season in a very nice mix, while the bridal moment changed to a depressing Greek song, saying that despite the difficulties the Greeks trying hard to stay alive.
