Before Olivier Rousteing made it all look so effortless, the idea of ballerinas, lace and tulle influencing a silhouette exuding of a bold sporty attitude seemed almost impossible. With a fragile femininity whispering through, Balmain’s resort 2014 collection blended together the best of two worlds: plumetis tulle, Chantilly lace, black leather, blue denim and enough chain link detailing to cinch it all together.
Set to become the newest urban uniform, the denim overalls worn on top of delicate white shirts never looked more refreshing. Boxy jackets, slouchy pants and more overalls, this time in houndstooth tweed, collided with heavy embroideries, pastel-colored rose appliques and delicate blocks of lace in the cool, yet glamorous masculine-meets-feminine resort offering.
More of the contrasting elements building the gorgeous line-up included a black quilted leather jacket set against a feather-hemmed white coat dress, and stone-washed denim dungarees opposing pastel colored ballerina dresses and skirts.
