It’s the idea of perfect tailoring, colliding with the hard edge exuded by the black, all black or black influenced garments that became a clear trend amongst the menswear collections presented this season. Bottega Veneta was no stranger to the concept, although Maier’s sophisticated fall / winter 2013 line-up was gently infused with a bold selection of contrasting frisky shades that ended up breaking the serious character of the collection.
Seeing that Bottega Veneta’s Milan fashion week (MFW) show was all about luxurious coats and impeccably tailored suits, comes as no surprise that the working gents will find bits and pieces of their sharp aesthetic reflected in the monochromatic delights. Tomas Maier’s image of masculinity felt like a breath of fresh air as dressed in gorgeous plums, hints of salmon pink and classic camels, despite the dark spell that veiled the runway from beginning to end.
