Chanel pre-fall 2013: a tweed romance

By staging dramatic fashion runway shows and always setting the perfect atmosphere to gently complement his signature collections, Karl Lagerfeld manages to remain faithful to a highly unique vision that sets the house of Chanel apart from all its long-time competitors. The launch of the pre-fall 2013 collection was no different, as the playful layered looks wore accompanied by a misty feel, set up against the breathtaking backdrop offered by the courtyard of Linlithgow Palace.

Drama, romance and Chanel’s utterly elegant aesthetic, made for a bold collection that found its inspiration in Coco Chanel’s long lasting love affair with cashmere, tweed and tartan. These are the same classic elements that are being re-envisioned season after season, and yet, with every new collection they seem to carry more of that freshness and modern appeal women adore in effortless garments.

Chanel’s vision for pre-fall 2013 centers mainly around the ideas of sophisticated outwear and contrasting layers, by making the absolute best out of the highly unexpected combinations. Magic hits once the laid back attitude collides with the fabulous Elizabethan inspired accents, resulting in an array of fall looks that are both gentle and overwhelming, traditional and fearless.

The urban interpretation of the timeless plaids, sets up the ground for another tartan infused season, merging the ageless elegance with the modern day spirit.
