BeeQueen by Chicca Lualdi’s spring / summer 2013 collection was all about feminising minimalism. You might not think that taking inspiration from Frank Lloyd Wright would be the way to do it, but it worked for Lualdi. Modern architecture influenced the cuts and shapes of the garments, while the colour palette borrowed thirstily from nature – imbuing cedar greens, bougainvillea pinks and oceanic blues onto colour blocked, easy pieces.
The fresh colours and occasional bursts of floral print were all the more impacty against the garden backdrop of the Sheraton Diana Majestic hotel – a blue fountain against a quiet green-filled courtyard.
