With every new collection unveiled during fashion week, the influence of street style in the menswear department became more and more obvious this season. How each and every one of the designers chose to interpret and incorporate the urban elements into their unique aesthetics is what kept things upbeat and interesting. For instance, Sacha Walckhoff, for fall 2013, made it all about attitude, roughness colliding with luxury and progress.
Having all that translated to an array of garments that seek beyond the structure and patterns used in making uniforms, Walckhoff didn’t abandon the idea of heritage completely. A subtle cross riddled into a print paid homage to Christian Lacroix’s fascination for drama. The newness was sensed in a denim jumpsuit inspired by the art of finger painting, as well as in a construction tape-like pattern covering a matching ensemble made out of trousers, a coat and a bag. Totally unexpected, yet totally going in a new direction.
