I’d been wondering if the holiday mood of Milan would head underground for Paris fashion week (PFW), but Lacroix’s spring 2013 opening of a sunshine yellow jacket kept the sun shining for day 1. T-shirt prints names after Rio, Venice Beach, Coney Island had a peppy 80s postcard vibe, on occasion paired with graphic print pants. But this mood of printed tees with rolled up sleeves was more often matched by tailoring that had a Parisian formality.
Still there was a sense that Lacroix wanted to strip things back to a simple, often quite sporty, level. Surf jackts, windbreakers, and parkas were a replacement for more structured forms of outerwear; but that in no way preculded a set of tailored looks that were holidaying with elegance.
