Basket-weave hair & bronze skin at Christopher Esber

Braids and dewy skin are having a moment in the world of beauty. Or perhaps, it might be more legitimate to say that they have had a moment at 2012 showing at Australian fashion week (MBFWA) this year.

You might benefit if you add another page to your inspiration diary for coping with summer’s heat with the hair and make-up look from Christopher Esber’s show. Citing the collection as a paradox of sports luxe and clinical structuralism, Christopher Esber’s spring 2012 show left the industry satisfied and relieved for having witnessed something new on the runway. Especially after the monotonous week.

However, stealing very little thunder from this show, the make-up, directed by Napoleon Perdis, created a “natural smoky eye” to correspond the organic elements of the collection. The look summed up with a dash of orange across the eyelids, ultra-luminous skin, natural lips and textured brows.

The boldest statement, however, was made by the hair-do for the night, as a 10-strand basket weave plait peeped from the back of each model’s head. Overwhelming, tailored, intricate, detailed yet so feminine: pretty certain this look made it to the top three hairstyles of the week, if not the best.
