An English sensibility was permeating Diane von Furstenberg’s pre-fall 2013 collection, but it wasn’t so much England of the now as it was England of the 1970s. von Furstenberg was riffing on the days when Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull were a hot item, the days when sleeves billowed and prints were as quirky as the colours they came in. Dandy bow-blouses and tailored vests and coats brought the masculine element to her otherwise feminine-filled collection, which von Furstenberg kept fresh and contemporary by way of clean, streamlined cuts.
