After replacing Sophia Kokosalaki as the creative head of Diesel Black Gold’s line, Andreas Melbostad finally got to launch his debut collection for the label, a collection that highly resonated with his already strong signature aesthetic. With a tough, cool girl in mind, Diesel’s new creative director took a spin on the American biker theme, by making the concept approachable, modern and innovative.
The pre-fall 2013 collection was projected as the edgy interpretation of the everyday wardrobe, making the absolute most out of leather, quilting and of course, denim. The last, was effortlessly engineered and featured in sharp jackets and skinny jeans, sometimes being almost indistinguishable from all of the leather garments. The genuine fabric also made for some bold double denim combos that speaked close to the urban girl’s laid-back sense of style.
With a major point of focus set on heavy-handed outwear, the Diesel Black Gold pre-fall 2013 collection featured a full spectrum of motorcycle jackets, hooded parkas and macs, blending leather and denim together flawlessly. A selection of statement Art Nouveau prints, embellishing delicate and sophisticated silk button up shirts and dresses, made for a subtle touch of femininity.
