Romantic, luxurious, sharing a piece of Italian history, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s fall / winter 2013 collection drew inspiration from the mosaics of Sicily’s Cathedral of Monreale and the striking work of art translated beautifully to an array of A-line and hourglass silhouettes, adorned with religious figures and other significant Catholic Church motifs turned glamorous.
Red lace evening dresses enriched with embroideries and stones, styled with filigree bags and mosaic platforms assured a dramatic finale, feeling almost like an homage paid to the city of Sicily, the same one that keeps inspiring the valuable work of Domenico and Stefano throughout the seasons. Playful and rich, Dolce & Gabbana’s “Tailored Mosaic” collection felt like the most exquisite way of escaping reality.
