Say what you like of Dean and Dan Caten, but you certainly can’t blame the duo for ever lacking imagination. No strangers to crossing boundaries and pushing limits, they succeeded in melting together two opposing influences for resort 2014; 1950s glamour and the safari elements. The resulting outing forces the imagination to dress an Old Hollywood starlet, turned desert queen.
Still betraying DSquared2’s cheeky and playful aesthetic, the delightful cruise collection mixes and matches elements coming from two separate worlds with an ease that feels almost genuine. A shirt dress in gorgeous forest green, a 1950s ladylike silhouette alternating foliage printed and black leather panels, and a from fitting skirts adorned with overstated utility pockets turn any day into an adventure.
For the evening hours, a beautiful black column dress enriched with a bold jeweled accent offers an utterly feminine alternative, while a double-breasted tuxedo jacket youthfully teamed to a pair of black leather shorts offers a fresh take on androgyny.
