Emilio Cavallini set out to design a collection of fall / winter 2012 luxury tights and body wear that stirred “a woman’s sexual fantasies.” For women, I can only pretend to speak. What I can say is this however: the collection they showed at New York fashion week (NYFW) is at least certain to stir the fantasies of men.
Where others held catwalks, Emilio Cavallini debuted their fall 2012 collection with a presentation of clothing shown as performance art. Where other catwalks might reveal a model’s scant nothings only when there has been the most grievous of all malfunctions, cavallini instead sent his models out basically undressed an then proceeded to have the situation reversed.
That admittedly left some spectators of the reverse strip with bemused looks – much of the risqué business collection as revealing as lingerie can be. Yet it’s unlikely that these women aren’t a part of Cavillinis target market anyway. His is a fall 2012 collection inspire by Bettie Page, “the ultimate femme fatale”, and designed for those who dare to be different. Most won’t dare to be this different (or at least will opt to use the lingerie as layers as the presentation highlighted was a very likely eventuality). But for those who do, there are certainly now more options.
