Model after model, look after look. True to his style, Giorgio Armani presented Milan fashion week with an Emporio Armani fall 2012 collection that teamed with looks. Looks that, just as for spring 2012, have much of a girlie lean to them, hence the collection’s name Little Winter Follies.
Don’t take girlie to mean floral and flouncy, however. Even when embellished pink and blue polka dots, Emporio Armani‘s fall 2012 collection feels dark, almost broody. That tone, which admittedly works in stronger Indian reds and amethyst blues, is layered across cuts that begin with strong shoulders cut with a masculine bent and overtones of the roaring 20s.
You’ll be forgiven if you miss those references, however, so busy was the runway presentation and styling. Strong the uses of lederhosen and a-line cuts may have been, but visually dominated by taffeta roses and functional florals they were. Instead cast your eye over the collection’s simpler looks, inspired by other parts of Western Europe, and you’ll get a stronger sense of what the Emporio Armani collection is about and how it’ll be worn come autumn / winter 2012.
