A sporty futurism permeated Emporio Armani spring / summer 2014; a future where perforated leather and mesh covered everything from jackets to pants to shoes. The high-tech feel came from experimentation and research into new manufacturing techniques and materials, with complex processing leading to a collision of Armani’s classicism with his ability to move with the times.
Zippers and press studs took precedence over buttons. Seams were heat sealed to keep them lightweight and flat. There was a pristine cleanness to a procession of white and dove grey ensembles, where shantung shirts with unusual cross-over collars replaced the traditional button-down.
From to the perforated loafers to the minimalist visors, this was Armani’s vision of a future that would never once sacrifice the sporty for the smart, instead managing to balance the two aspects the way only a master of the business can.
