RAFW Preview: flowers For a VagabOnd S/S 2011

As one of last year’s memorable showings we are rather looking forward to Australian label flowers For a VagabOnd‘s presentation at May’s RAFW (Australian fashion week). Their Monday catwalk will see Head Designer Toby Maclean will present his take on spring / summer 2011 in a collection entitled Erosive Radiance. Always striking us as something of a reinterpretation of classical futurism, what then can we expect of this year’s offering?

“Throughout my spring summer collection, I have taken a minimalistic approach playing with light and movement, concentrating on translucent merino wool, crepe de chin, chiffon and satin layered with nude, cream and beige tones,” Toby has revealed. Key pieces shall include pushed “proportions with sculptural bonnets and neck pieces tweaked with hidden lighting [adding] a four-dimensional edge to the collection.”

Ahead of the trend curve, Toby has also promised a laid back style reminiscent of the early 1930s, an era we’re personally expecting to have a bit impact on fashion trends beyond 2011.
