Even for the devoted tomboy, there’s something satisfying about indulging in some pure pleats-and-peplums femininity from time to time. You’d do worse than to opt for Genny’s fall / winter 2014 collection, given its bold, quirky and sumptuously regal disposition.
Delicate dresses of silk chiffon billowed into soft sunray pleats; accessories embellished with clusters of pearls were an homage to the grandiosity of crown jewels; a print up close transpires to be the facade of a palazzo repeated across silk duchesse suits and semi-sheer dresses. Metallic fabrics added an air of 80s glamour, especially in an electric ruffled one shoulder jumpsuit. But the lighter Genny’s dresses were on bling, the better: white angora and powder blue chiffon would extend beyond red carpet occasions and had a wintry beauty all of their own.
