Giorgio Armani has a way of meeting expectations while simultaneously breaking away from them. That comes down to his ability to fuse classic styles with technology and modern touches. For fall / winter 2013 Armani focused his collection on clean and “essential” styling: sartorial meets sporty, tailored meets techno, all executed in a familiar – tried and tested – Armani colour palette bursting with ruby red against tones of grey, brown, and black.
This season Armani brought Dandy looks and sporty ones to the same Milan fashion week (MFW) runway, sometimes fused into the same outfit, and therein lay the unique touch of the collection. A use of neoprene, bonded to luxe fabrics like velvet and suede, gave off that undeniably modern and sporty vibe.
As the show progressed, more and more staples of Giorgio Armani outerwear were accounted for: moving through warm knits to sportscoats to leather bombers and, at last, culminating in a series of evening looks to dress his fall gent after dark.
