Gwendolynne has a trademark style that she rarely deviates from. That’s no bad thing: fans of her ultra-feminine evening and bridal wear know exactly what to expect, namely plenty of floor-sweeping trains and impeccable embellishments. And on that she never fails to deliver. On yesterday’s MSFW (Melbourne fashion week) runway her trademark style was in full force but if there was any change to note it was in the structure of the pieces. Gwendolynne has relaxed things. She’s untied the corset.
The pieces selected to show on this year’s MSFW runway flowed and floated with only a mere hint of the highly structured corsetry we often see from the designer. Along with the cuts, the details also got a slightly more modern makeover with lace featuring prominently, and her intricate beading re-imagined into modern, almost futuristic shapes.
