Helmut Lang pre-fall 2013: monochromatic delights

As it happens, all the major fashion houses seem to have completely abandoned themselves to the new flooding of monochromatic looks that took over the fashion map slowly but surely over the last seasons. Helmut Lang makes no exception, as the brand’s pre-fall 2013 collection takes on a darker mood, worthily for the cloudy days set to turn the colorful summer sky into a gray delight.

What’s wonderful about a wardrobe infused with a clean colour palette of granite, navy and black is that it instantly becomes timeless, versatile and extremely approachable, regardless of time, space or location. Designers Nicole and Michael Colovos envisioned a lightweight, distinct and modern collection for the future season, playing upon a slightly more masculine approach, easy to recognize in the sleek blazers, cropped pants and overall laid-back silhouettes.

There’s a sense of effortless edge transcending from Helmut Lang’s minimum embellished collection that aside from sharp shoulders, draped open-backs and sheer inserts is effectively clean and sharp. A vision of urban appeal that makes a raw aesthetic look extremely sophisticated.

Less is indeed ample once again, thanks to a flawless execution and to a modern view that is set to give women exactly what they long for. Nothing less and nothing more.
