Herve Leger is the famous line that brought us the bandage dress; that magic dress that makes every type of woman look fabulous. Once again, spring / summer 2013 brought the bandage dress back to the runway with a special touch.
This year Herve Leger made a bandages dress with an added flair of American pizazz. Each woman represented a southern woman with a bad boy for a boyfriend, rocking the runway to the sound of motorcycles and marching to the beat of their own drummer. You might not guess it at first glance, but the inspiration was taken from quilt making techniques of the women in Gee’s Bend, Alabama.
On closer inspection each dress was like a patchwork quilt that a grandmother has delicately made for their granddaughter. Grays mixed with pops of color and unique prints adorned the fabric to create different illusions in each look. Flashes of blue mixed with many different colors along with chains and leather to give it a bad girl edge. This girl will be taking off on the back of a motorcycle tonight.
