Iceberg’s spring / summer 2013 collection carried on that theme that, these days, it’s hard not to think of as Balmain-esque. Jewel-studded skinny pants with wide, low slung belts were paired with knits that accentuated the shoulders; long skirts were slit to the thigh. In all it was a Milan fashion week (MFW) show brimming with 1970s references from the aforementioned glam-rock infusions to hippie looks of suede pants and lurex tops.
Occasionally the collection crossed over into the 1980s, like in a cobalt blue double breasted blazer-slash-dress, or a modern update on the parachute jacket. These were not its strongest moments. Instead it was the metallics (which are shaping up to be one of the key trends for spring 2013) and the soft-cup frame bras worn with sheer lace or unbuttoned blouses creating a kind of effortless effect.
