If you’re looking for something for fall 2012 with a Helmut Newton bent, one closer to the Newton of the 1970s than any other period in which the photographer worked, Imitation of Christ has your tailoring options covered.
Provided you’re after tailoring options with that certain something, that is. Newton, after all, wasn’t snapping pictures for suit catalogues. Rather, he lensed heavily sexualised portrayals of men’s suiting as women’s suiting. And it’s precisely this tangent that Imitation of Christ has followed.
Hence it’s a fall 2012 collection of tailored shorts and thigh high slits, and of scoop-neck three-piece suits and shirts whose collars begin on the right side of the neck and sit under the left arm (that’s probably hard to imagine, so check out the gallery). All the sexualised elements are there, though seldom are they definitive. Instead Imitation of Christ’s fall 2012 collection needs to come with a disclaimer: good cuts provided, sexualised personality required.
