We came to expect the unexpected from the likes of Jean Paul Gaultier, so it didn’t feel particularly odd to notice how his concept for resort 2014 turned into a full experiment based on the reimagining of glamourous elements. The collection that still builds upon codes and tradition, brought forth a playful vision that is set to provoke the imagination and entice the spirits, yet again.
Making use of fishnet fabrics, Jean Paul Gaultier put a new spin on breezy hats, fluid button-downs, placing the patterns on dresses and inserting them even into his signature stripe sweaters. The classic silhouette of a pencil skirt, as well as the one of a black trench coat were completely turned sheer, while alluring slits came adorning sheath evening dresses, jacket sleeves and wide trouser legs.
The quasi-restricted color palette of nude, black and white with all of its additional pops of color, was amongst the few elements of glamour left unaltered.
