The loose silhouettes, the abundance of masculine influences as well as the motocross print that boldly veiled a couple of sharp jackets and suits as they came down the runway pointed strictly towards an obsession with motorcycle racing. And as it turns out, for the fall / winter 2013 season the Jean-Paul Lespagnard woman shares that same vivid passion that ended up inspiring an entire collection.
Alongside the motocross references, some subtle noticed in the intriguing cuts, others more blunt, Lespagnard made use of bright colors such as cobalt blue, canary yellow, tangerine and green to complement the wardrobe envisioned for the lady “who wants to join her lover as he returns from fishing for maatjes.” Not much of the distinguishing plot that accompanied Lespagnard’s line was clearly identifiable in the garments, but the graffiti motifs, the structured shapes, the almost exaggerated volumes and the specificity defining the accessories helped a great deal in translating the main essence of the story.
