Tribal drums and Depeche Mode formed an electro-tribal soundtrack to John Richmond’s electro-tribal spring / summer 2014 collection. In neon accents and geometric seaming, a high-tech modern man was born: unafraid of prints, as likely to be seen in a grey sleeveless sweatshirt as a grey suit.
Richmond’s milan fashion week (mfw) show found a healthy balance between the precision of high quality tailoring and the urban edge of the high fashion, youthful male. Some pieces need flair and more than a little confidence to pull off – maybe even flowing hair and a modelesque figure – but others will more easily be appropriated into any guy’s spring wardrobe. Wear the minimal pieces everyday, and the embellished, shiny, skinny ones for when you wake up feeling like a rockstar.
“Industrial, modern, clean, urban,” read the show’s notes: and that pretty much sums it up.
