Regardless of the season or the current trends, you can always count on Kate Spade to deliver a loud, flirty and quirky collection. For the fashion world to be in perfect balance, someone needs to add a touch of humor to the overall picture, alongside a splash of color and maybe even a lively print. Deborah Lloyd’s fall / winter 2013 collection was a mixture of all of that and more, as the 1980s were fully revived on the effervescent catwalk unveiled during New York fashion week (NYFW).
There was some neon pink, bright yellow and a blast of orange on the runway, alongside eye-catching touches of gold only to reassert the idea that much is more for the Kate Spade customer. For the same girl envisioned to wear a lipstick print dress, a blouse featuring an oversized pussy bow or a cute apple printed poufy skirt, fashion must feel like an ongoing adventure of some sort that doesn’t need stopping just because the world won’t agree to it.
For a quick fix of demureness, the bouffant was replaced by a slick low-bun towards the end of the collection, as the array of chic black and white silhouettes reinstated a sense of modern glam, much closer to the present day and much relevant in terms of refinement.
