Lanvin Spring / Summer 2013

Lanvin’s spring / summer 2013 show had those Alber Elbaz trademarks, like one-shoulder cocktail dresses and the unmistakably Lanvin mix of statement jewellery and silk. But it also dabbled in unique takes on tailoring: asymmetrical details, the tuxedo jacket that morphs into a dress, and the Oriental inklings that the season is so fixated on.

The latter, Lanvin’s Paris fashion week (PFW) show handled with utmost subtlety. Japanese influenced obi belts with bows were the most obvious reference.

The classic feel that always permeates Elbaz’ collections was manifest more literally, too, in dresses printed (faintly, so you almost need to double-take to see them) with classical nude statues, turning the torso of the wearer into ancient looking art.
