Leopold just injected some colour into the usually gloomy Manchester Lane where they’ve just set up shop. You would have thought with their new premises, perhaps a darker collection would have been on order, but quite the contrary. The Melbourne fashion week show opened with a pair of brightly red – almost orange – shorts that’ll prove popular this coming season.
The colour repeated for the next few looks, culminating with a sharp shift dress donned by Alice Burdeu. As the show continued, bold colour appeared as an accent to either white or black. Two versions of white trousers ran down the runway, evoking a strong menswear trend that we’ve seen. (Pitti Uomo have a lot to answer for.) For the most part, the tailoring felt youthful and relevant – something Leopold has established with each passing season.
