The Melbourne label always displays their collection prior to the chaos of fashion week, giving them a reputation of being the trendsetters.
But this spring / summer collection brings another special kick for the designer duo as LIFEwithBIRD celebrates their 10 years in the business.
The Distance Between aimed to correspond to the label’s decade-long journey and growth in the industry. Choosing the iconic Opera House as the venue and the backdrop of the Sydney Harbour Bridge assumingly asserted the direction in which LIFEwithBIRD’s success radar was headed. Especially when compared to last year’s warehouse showing, this year was a milestone for the label.
The collection itself was a reflection of the designers’ creative vision – innovative, modern and technologically advanced. Fluid fabrics enveloped the body in geometric lines, also celebrating the label’s aesthetic. The silhouette remained lean and long, with hints of sports luxe and athleticism on every alternate model.
Spring’s beloved item, the tailored shorts, was high on rotation in the collection, styled with singlets boasting racer cut necklines.
Lilac, mint green, cream and camel dictated the colour palette for the collection, giving a refreshing change to the hues for the season ahead, especially after the vivid colour blocking from spring / summer 2011.
When the Calvin Klein boys are on speed dial, how can a label not foresee a bright future ahead of them? In Nicholas and Bridget’s case, however, we’re forecasting a pastel-hued bright future.
