For Marchesa, embracing the ease of the resort season never truly implies abandoning its signature glamour, but with that being said the silhouettes do appear to be following a lighter and softer line for pre-spring 2014. The gardens at the Petit Trianon are what inspired designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig in creating a collection that brims with romance, while silently nodding towards Marie Antoinette’s exquisite closet.
Gorgeous watercolor floral prints that seemed to be carved out of a painting, alongside delicate chiffon floral appliques, all coated in a palette of duck-egg blue, blush pink, black and white were envisioned as to indulge the senses with their indisputable splendor. Cut in Chantilly lace, chiffon, organza and silk, the tea length, drop-waist and baby-doll silhouettes further accented the understated tone of the line-up.
A transparent neckline, a beaded bodice of gold and feathers, and a floor length gown featuring cascading floral appliques down the skirt consolidated more of the evening notion, as without a single doubt in mind, each of the spectacular garments is fit for an even more spectacular life event.
