Clean and minimal were the pieces at Maria Grachvogel, first in monochromatic tones of black and white, transitioning to earthy mushroom tones that looked like they might have slipped through autumn’s cracks and into spring 2013. The dusky purple hue was particularly pretty when it graced sheer fabric either as a skirt hem or full blouse.
Print – never far away this season – burst through the block colours in an enchanted way. You couldn’t help but be drawn in more as the London fashion week (LFW) runway show progressed: a print swimsuit in grey tones under a sheer ballerina pink layer; a soft pink plunging jumpsuit; breezy culotted pant cuts. And then a surprise of lemon butter yellows. Nothing was ever too far from minimal, which made the hair – a brilliant set of braids that merged into one, gelled in front and a little messy at the back – ever the more perfect a contrast.
