With secondary lines there’s always a slight chance of failure, especially if the comparison is based exclusively upon the luxurious-looking and far more expensive original concept, which in this case is even harder to match in success. The creative minds behind Maison Martin Margiela did however a tremendous job in allowing MM6 to steal some of the Margiela essence while giving it enough space to develop its own fashionable path. All perfectly noticeable in the statement making fall / winter 2013 collection.
The styles, many and clearly belonging to different worlds did clash in what resembled an extra enthusiastic presentation. The main ideas however circled round the military aesthetic, with a touch of grunge, a sporty vibe and even more of the prints and patterns that helped build the Maison Martin Margiela legacy. With that said, the parachute volumes looked modern and relevant, even though the fitted silhouettes became a pretty strong feature of the line as well. At the end we’re left with a taste of power, desire for comfort and to look extraordinary with little effort.
