Braveheart in Narnia.
Whether that’s a theme you’d personally want to channel or not, you can’t fault Thom Browne’s ability to get inventive when it comes to Moncler Gamme Bleu’s Milan fashion week (MFW) shows. The same space that was, in spring, filled with dancing sailors became for fall 2013 a magical snow-covered forest, populated by models who became brave kilt-wearing warriors.
And what could be expected from a theme like that other than plenty of tartan and winter whites? But looking past the props and traditional Scottish kilts and sporrans, you could easily find commercially viable pieces to please the Moncler man. Quilted winter jackets, soft turtleneck knits, a suit re-imagined into all-over cable knit… You don’t have to wear blue face paint to look good in those.
