It was an hour to go before the faux curtains came up on one of the most gold-dust
shows this side of London fashion week, when Mulberry decided to make a broadcast on its new bag titled: The Del Rey. Inspired and named after the songstress Lana Del Rey, the announcement of the new accessory caused quite a stir amongst some editors, until the muse herself was escorted into the autumn 2012 showing carrying her namesake bag in white leather.
The show was labeled “where the wild things are” and down the runway came a plethora of fur, chunky knits, tweed and some tiger print teamed with lace through two large monsters on either side of the runway. We also saw multi toned parkas on midi chiffon dresses which raised a few eyebrows. Maybe this midi trend is here to stay; we saw versions of it on the spring 2012 runways, however, for winter we are going longer and branching out into various fabrics, such as metallic, oversized fur and tweeds.
Cinched in waists, oversized outerwear rimmed in fur and a crayon box of colours saw a
bright winter ahead through the Mulberry monster’s eyes.
