Nautica’s 30 year anniversary pressed for a memorable celebration, illustrated preeminently in the adventurous but great-looking men’s fall 2013 runway presentation unveiled during New York fashion week (NYFW). Triggering inspiration from the Antarctic seafaring expeditions of Sir Earnest Shakleton, the “Black Sail” line-up seemed envisioned for the coldest climate on Earth, hence the presence of the chunky parkas, fur accents and puffer boots. With all that heaviness going on, the outcome surfaced surprisingly weightless and fresh.
Among an outstanding selection of winter-worthy cable knit jumpers, a heather grey cardigan, styled with a brown leather belt and paired to a cool beanie offered plenty of alternatives to be dressed up or down. The dark aviator sunglasses and the faux fur scarves, accompanying many of the looks to have walked the white catwalk, captured the mere essence of the “Black Sail” collection: nifty, smart and grand. Easy ways of making a guy effortlessly stand out in a crowd.
