Flower blossom prints go with spring just as beautifully and impeccably as black leather goes with the colder seasons and that’s a fact few designers tend to dismiss these days. Pierre Balmain’s fall / winter 2013 collection embraced the dark side of fashion once again and took a quick look back at the sixties for a drop of inspiration, noticeable especially in the gorgeous wool capes and mini silhouettes. The rest of the collection appeared rather polished, cutting-edge and bold. Fit for a modern-day heroine.
Designed in such precise manner the leather shirts, pants and dresses looked particularly exquisite. When displayed together, even more of a fearless quality pierced through, but it didn’t end up feeling like too much, not even once. Maybe because for every fitted garment building the line up, there was a larger piece of outwear keeping the balance, and for every leather piece insuring the edge of the collection, there was a softer correspondent somewhere in the wool and sheer items that also reinstated a sense of femininity.
